In 2017, on a trip to South Sulawesi, I arrived at a small village called Bira and came across a group of men building the hull for a new Pinisi (Phinisi), the traditional wooden sailing boats that this tribe has been making the same way for generations. I knew a little about the Bugis people and their rich history, just enough to spark my imagination and set in motion dreams of following in the footsteps of the early explorers.
There is something so magical about sailing through the Spice Islands, tracing the routes of ancient explorers through some of Indonesia’s most beautiful islands. Enjoying this trip aboard The Oracle, a traditional phinisi boat, modelled on the very ships the explorers used, is a very special experience.
Aboard The Oracle Yacht, luxury cruise dining elevates the diverse and vibrant Indonesian coastal cuisine. With over 17,000 islands, Indonesia’s culinary landscape is rich and varied, showcasing everything from spicy fish curries to mouth-watering grilled seafood. The Oracle Yacht curates a unique culinary journey, marrying the opulence of luxury dining with the genuine heart and soul of Indonesia’s coastal culinary traditions.
